I started on my martial arts path relatively late in life (33) beginning in karate and Ryukyu Kobudo achieving nidan karate. After karate I spent 5 years in Aikido achieving 1-kyu.

My martial training was interrupted for about 15 years by my son’s community football before discovered Iaido and Kendo at the age of 57!!

Under the tutelage of Campbell sensei I have obtained sandan in both Kendo and Iaido. I have found that both these arts are not age sensitive so I am able to keep training in spite of my age. I am proof that it is never too late to start and I encourage anyone with an interest in martial arts to consider Kendo at Matsu Kai.
